Barra Clean-up for Nature

Hosted by Barra & Vatersay Outdoor Rangers Service

Please join Barra and Vatersay Outdoor Rangers Service for a community clean-up around the beautiful island of Barra and help protect its wildlife and natural beauty.

 

Together, we'll collect litter, meet like-minded people, enjoy the breath-taking landscapes and make a positive difference for nature.

 

Location and time to be determined - contact event host.

 

The clean-up will include a variety of locations, from roadside verges to beaches and shoreline areas. Some terrain may be uneven, boggy or rocky, so sturdy footwear is recommended. General fitness required.

 

Free. No need to book, just turn up.

Refuse bags and litter pickers will be provided

The beach consists mainly of slippery boulders – sturdy, supportive footwear is essential

 

What to Bring:

 

  • Warm and waterproof clothing

  • Any personal medication (attendees are responsible for their own needs)

  • Optional: personal protective gloves​

Discover the wild edge of Barra, cruising through rich waters and rugged coastlines of the archipelago, we'll watch for the variety of local wildlife while discovering the natural history of these remarkable Atlantic islands.

Trip includes a landing on Barra Head and a guided walk to the iconic lighthouse, surrounded by dramatic cliffs, sweeping ocean views and intentionally important seabird colonies.  All trips are weather dependant.

Discover the spectacular coastline, islands and wildlife on a relaxing boat tour with Hebridean Sea Tours through beautiful Bishop Isles.

Cruising among uninhabited islands, turquoise bays and dramatic Atlantic scenery, our National Trust Ranger, Ben Morton-Clarke will share his knowledge on local wildlife, history and island life of this unique corner of the Outer Hebrides.

Please join our volunteers for a community clean-up around the beautiful island of Eriskay and help protect its wildlife and natural beauty.  Together we'll collect litter along various locations, meet like-minded people, enjoy the breath-taking landscapes and make a positive difference for nature. 

Time: 2pm
