The RSPB Film Night
During the week of the Wildlife festival, the RSPB will be screening two short films. One is 'Beyond a tangled shore' filmed in the 1970s by the RSPB and features many of the species to be highlighted during the festival.
The other is a special screening of 'Mara; the Seal Wife' by Lily Islands Films. 'Mara the Seal Wife is a magic realism tale from the award winning filmmaker Uisdean Murray.
After giving birth to their child on a beach during the dead of night Sine runs
into the darkness leaving her husband Magnus in a state of anguish.
Journeying into the past we discover the reasons behind Sine’s behaviour and witness the harrowing events that brought her into the realm of the selkie. More information on 'Mara; the Seal Wife can be found at Mara: The Seal Wife | Selkie Folklore
